Jaffa efforts recognised among Limestone Coast businesswomen achievements

Cape Jaffa Wines’ brand manager Leah Sourris is named Young Business Woman of the Year in the inaugural Influential Women in Business Awards 2010

MOUNT BENSON – 7 June 2010: Leah Sourris, brand manager of Cape Jaffa Wines (www.capejaffawines.com.au), was announced as Young Business Woman of the Year in the inaugural Influential Women in Business Awards’ gala dinner event held at the Barn Palais in Mount Gambier on Friday evening, 4 June 2010.

The innovative new awards programme, hosted by Women in Business and Regional Development Inc, was established to recognise the personal and professional achievements of Limestone Coast women from all backgrounds, from up-and-coming young businesswomen to corporate leaders and those working in the not-for-profit sector.

As part of the submission process, entrants were asked to provide an overview of their business, detail significant achievements and initiatives, and share some of the secrets of their success, from setting goals to effectively achieving a work-life balance.

“We’re extremely proud of Leah and her achievements,” says director of Cape Jaffa Wines Derek Hooper.  “Her professional

development over her past three years at Cape Jaffa is evident in the number of projects she’s put her mind to, from building a cohesive brand message for Cape Jaffa Wines, her instigation of a media liaison programme, and her management of all aspects of our products and brand.

“Her immense experience in the tourism industry has also allowed us to develop our cellar door experience to be in line with the state objectives, allowing us to offer customers a more integrated, authentically South Australian experience which showcases a number of Limestone Coast products and strengths.”

“I was extremely humbled to receive the award this year,” says Leah.  “I thoroughly respect the awards submission process because I believe it gives you a great opportunity to not only recognise your past achievements, but encourages you to keep moving forward.

“I recommend to those who haven’t undergone the process to do so.”

Leah has nine years tourism and marketing experience, having worked in the tourism sector in Queensland, Northern Territory, and western Japan before moving to the Limestone Coast in 2007.  Among her volunteer work she is a member of the Limestone Coast tourism board and is presiding over the Cape Jaffa Seafood and Wine Fest 2011, her second year in the position.
