2005 Siberia Shiraz
Our flagship wine is made from fruit from our Siberia vineyard, named by those who hand-prune the vines in Mount Benson's chilly winters. The Siberia Shiraz is only produced in years when these low-yielding vines produce the highest quality fruit. Fermented in open top concrete tanks, it was hand-plunged three times a day before careful extended maceration on skins for six weeks. It was matured in new French oak barriques for 24 months before a light natural egg white fining. The bouquet boasts a complex mix of dark berry and spicy notes with a hint of black pepper.

2007 Cape Jaffa Sauvignon Blanc
At Cape Jaffa, we aim to create our own unique style of Sauvignon Blanc with a focus on regionality and varietal expression, and 2007 provided excellent conditions for doing so; the warm and dry growing season were ideal for ripening fruit. This Sauvignon Blanc shows aromas of kiwifruit and a hint of herbaceousness, with a palate that is crisp, dry and refreshing with great structure and minerality. A hands-on and gentle winemaking process has preserved the exceptional fruit characters from our vineyards, which are proudly managed by biodynamic techniques.

2007 Cape Jaffa Semillon Sauvignon Blanc
This classic blend of 55% Semillon and 45% Sauvignon Blanc is made using gentle and meticulous winemaking techniques. The aroma exhibits lemon, gooseberry and asparagus notes with a hint of herbaceousness. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied with a crisp, dry finish and great depth. A small portion of barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc gives this blend structure and cellaring potential. Like the Sauvignon Blanc, our Semillon comes from low yielding vines that are carefully managed using biodynamic techniques.

2007 Cape Jaffa Unwooded Chardonnay
The warm and dry 2007 growing season saw lower than average yields but produced Chardonnay with great regionality. This unwooded version is one of the best examples of its style, with aromas at the tropical end of the spectrum including melon, peach and lychees. On the palate the wine is clean and lively with a similar suite of flavours to the bouquet, and finishes with an attractive touch of residual sugar balanced by crisp acidity. The only secret behind the vibrancy of this wine is very gentle handling in the winery. The absence of oak treatment highlights the natural fruit flavours.

2004 Cape Jaffa Barrel Fermented Chardonnay
In 2004, we deliberately picked our Chardonnay crop at a slightly lower sugar level to achieve a more elegant style of wine. We fermented the juice in new French oak barriques followed by four months in barrel and regular lees stirring. On the nose, it has a complex mix of melon, lychee and citrus with subtle coconutty oak in the background. These flavours follow through on the palate creating a perfect combination of rich and tropical fruit flavours, unobtrusive oak and yeast autolysis.

2005 Cape Jaffa Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2005 vintage was warmer than average growing season and as such produced robust wines with excellent intensity at all levels. A fruit-driven and varietal style, the nose shows hints of cedar and cassis, characteristic of Cabernet from the region, while the palate is intense yet complex.
Fermenting half of the fruit in open concrete tanks achieved a very soft and approachable tannin structure. Well-integrated oak was the result of this Cabernet spending 18 months in French barriques.

2004 Cape Jaffa Shiraz
Our 2004 Shiraz brilliantly showcases the savoury pepper characters of Mount Benson Shiraz. Distinctively varietal, it shows spicy notes on the nose with mulberry and blackberry and hints of coffee and chocolate. The palate is generous and mouth-filling with fine tannins and well-integrated oak. The wine was created in open vats where it was labouriously plunged by hand, then aged in our underground barrel hall in French barriques for 18 months.
