Anna's White Blend
Style: Aromatic and soft.
The inspiration: Anna’s White blend is my favourite of our blends, hence I put my name on the label. It may also be the first of its kind – a previously undiscovered blend that we put together for no reason other than it just tasted great.
This is a complex wine with an edgy personality. The oak barrel fermented Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon add structure whilst a good wack of highly aromatic Gewürztraminer grape provides a beautiful bouquet that might allude to a sweeter palate (but it’s actually quite tight and crisp on the finish). The parcels are all blended after fermentation and we deliberate for days on how much of each creates the perfect ‘Anna’s Blend’.
Cellaring: This wine is drinking well now however it will evolve into a more tertiary and complex style in the bottle over up to two to three years.
Food pairing: Copes perfectly well with Thai style food. Also works with most stinky cheeses and complex fruits like quince and pears…all the makings for a great cheese platter!
Reviews: “Quixotic wine of great personality combining Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon with slippery texture, almost muscat scents but also spice and herbal things going on. Texture is fleshy through the mouth and the wine rolls with citrus, green apples, estery banana notes but finishes wickedly fresh. This is great.”-Mike Benny, Wine Business Magazine
