2018 Cape Jaffa Shiraz
Style: Fruit forward easy drinking style. Medium to full, lightly oaked.
The inspiration: The variety we love the most, made in a more drink now style.
This 3 time award winning wine is literally jumping out of the glass with bright fruit, subtle florals and bold flavours. Only lightly oaked and made to present a soft and smooth texture on the palate. Simple and uncomplicated but quite delectable at the same time. You could drink quite a lot of this quickly if you needed to.
Shiraz grapes were crushed and destemmed into closed fermenters. The ferment was carried out with inoculated yeast and pumped over 2 to 3 times a day for colour and tannin extraction. The wine is pressed at the completion of ferment and matured in a combination of old French barrels and stainless steel tanks.
Cellaring: This wine is made in a drink now style. It will age nicely over the next 3 to 5 years but we doubt you'll be able keep it in your cellar for that long!
Food pairing: Most char-grilled foods find a soul mate in Shiraz – and don’t just think red meat, eggplant and capsicum are great too. On the lighter side, this Shiraz is perfect for the impromptu BBQ’ing session – think sausage in bread on the beach.
