2018 En Soleil Shiraz
Style: Intense single vineyard wine, fully certified biodynamic.
The Inspiration: Our En Soleil Shiraz comes from a consistently good block grown by the Koch family in Wrattonbully.
We’ve sourced fruit from here for many years and it has performed well for us year in year out. It was also the principle blending component in our trophy winning Shiraz a couple of years back. We decided it ought to stand alone and created this single vineyard range to showcase another distinctly different biodynamic wine, this time grown on the rich red soils of Wrattonbully. Low sulphur.
A serious wine with a base of ripe red fruit, a layer of dark chocolate and a hint of Christmas spice. Fruity with a nice tannin kick!
Cellaring: This wine is drinking well now however over the next ten years it will become softer and more savoury if you prefer an aged style.
Food Pairing: Meat doesn’t necessarily need to be the hero with this intense flavourful Shiraz. It loves the dense earthiness of mushrooms and the robustness of eggplant. Think wild mushroom tart with a simple spinach and shaved parmesan salad or roast eggplant and lentil ragout.
