2020 Epic Drop Shiraz
Style: Brooding, driven and well supported with a touch of oak for the traditionalist.
The Inspiration: Two places, Wrattonbully and Mount Benson, intertwined to achieve balance and harmony in a glass. A Cape Jaffa trademark over many moons has been the merging of these two regions year in year out to showcase the best qualities that each area has to offer.
Tasting notes: Aromas of lifted spice, cloves, brooding dark fruits and savoury earthiness, with subtle undertones of oak influence in the form of vanilla and coconut.
On the palate, this medium plush bodied Shiraz has a delicate acid drive and softened round tannins that are well supported by flavours of mulberry, cloves, plums and a distinctive earthy warmth long finish.
Cellaring: This wine is drinking well now, but will age exceptionally well over the next 5 years.
Food Pairing: Most char-grilled foods find a soul mate in Shiraz. This more robust style of Shiraz would suit the rich flavours of venison, kangaroo and duck.
