2021 Cape Jaffa Chardonnay
Style: Our interpretation of what is undoubtedly a resurgence of Chardonnay as a modern style.
The inspiration: Chardonnay doesn’t need to be controversial. This style suits a range of Chardonnay, and non-Chardonnay, drinkers alike. It has had partial barrel fermentation producing a fruit, oak, and acid balance. Time on lees has given a soft and generous texture to the palate. Made in a style that not only compliments local seafood but is also suited to a lazy summer evening on Long Beach, Robe.
Tasting notes: Delicate and refined – think peaches and nectarine with a citrus lift.
Cellaring: The gentle oaking and time on lees will see this wine develop well in the bottle over the next 5 years, but we doubt you’ll be able to keep it that long!
Food Pairing: This wine can hold its own with strong flavours. It would be perfect with a ripe Robe Dairy St Clair Brie, on a balcony overlooking the ocean.
