2019 Cape Jaffa Chardonnay
Style: Fresh with a luscious mouth feel.
The inspiration: Chardonnay doesn't need to be controversial. This style suits a range of Chardonnay, and non-Chardonnay, drinkers alike. It's fruit-driven without being lean. It has had partial barrel fermentation, but the oak is subtle and balanced. Time on lees has given a soft and generous texture to the palate. Made in a style that not only compliments local seafood but is also suited to a lazy summer evening on Long Beach, Robe.
It has great stone fruit characters with a fresh citrus finish. Time in new French oak and lees stirring has created a beautiful creamy mouthfeel.
Cellaring: The gentle oaking and time on lees will see this wine develop well in the bottle over the next 3 years.
Food Pairing: This wine can hold its own with strong flavours. It would be perfect with a ripe Robe Dairy St Clair Brie, on a balcony overlooking the ocean.
