2019 Cape Jaffa Chardonnay
Style: Fresh with a luscious mouthfeel.
The inspiration: Chardonnay doesn't need to be controversial. This style suits a range of Chardonnay, and non Chardonnay, drinkers alike. It's fruit driven without being lean. It has had partial barrel fermentation, but the oak is subtle and balanced. Time on lees has given a soft and generous texture to the palate. Made in a style that not only compliments local seafood but is also suited to a lazy summer evening on Long Beach, Robe.
It has great stone fruit characters with a fresh citrus finish. Time in new french oak and lees stirring has created a beautiful creamy mouthfeel.
Cellaring: The gentle oaking and time on lees will see this wine develop well in the bottle over the next 3 years.
Food Pairing: The subtle oak means this wine can hold its own with strong flavours. It would be perfect with a ripe Robe Dairy St Clair Brie, on a balcony overlooking the ocean.
