2019 Mesmer Eyes Red & White Blend
Style: Aromatic and eccentric - between a Rosé and a red.
The Inspiration: A strange epiphany during vintage, this wine is quite like no other. Aptly named after a white and red native flower, Mesmer Eyes is sure to delight and intrigue. Highly aromatic with lucious Turkish delight and musky notes. A rich palate of sour cherry and warming cinnamon and clove spices.
The highly aromatic white wine Gewürtztraminer fermented for the first few days on its grape skins, pressed off its skins and decorated with a handful of red Shiraz berries late in the ferment. Creating a transformation from a white wine that tastes like a red to a pretty pinky red wine that tastes like nothing else.
Cellaring: This wine is drinking well now while its aromatic qualities are so apparent. If you are patient, it will age well for 5 years as it has good tannin structure and texture.
Food Pairing: Generous flavours are the go for this eccentric blend. Think highly spiced and aromatic herbs including cinnamon, clove, Sichuan pepper, shallots, soy and coriander – a good one to crack with your next Chinese take away meal of drunken noodles, Mongolian lamb or Peking roast duck with shallot pancakes and hoisin. Also try it slightly chilled or with a super stinky cheese to end a meal.
